Founded in 1947 by a group of marine insurance underwriters, the Houston Mariners Club has grown today to include underwriters, agents, brokers, surveyors, adjustors and attorneys. The uniting factor of the membership is that, regardless of the exact type of business, at least 50 percent of that business is related to the maritime industry. This requirement for membership is usually confirmed by one’s relationship to either the marine insurance industry or the offshore energy insurance industry.
The Club meets monthly, often in different venues―from luncheon meetings at the Port of Houston to fundraising events such as an annual golf tournament, fishing tournament and chili cook off. We also sponsor continuing education courses for both insurance and legal professionals. Our meetings vary with some being purely social in purpose and offering an opportunity to “network” with fellow colleagues while discussing mutual interests.

If you are active in the marine or offshore energy insurance business, chances are that you already know several of our members. If you are new to Houston and/or new to our industry, please come join us. The Houston Mariners Club will give you the opportunity for a fast start in establishing your place in the Houston maritime insurance industry.
