About Us

Started in 1947, the Houston Mariners Club (HMC) is a 503(c) non-profit organization that provides avenues for networking and continuing education in Houston marine and energy insurance. With a meeting or activity scheduled each month, the Club remains quite active. The continuing education classes aim to further members’ knowledge of industry standards and meet statutory requirements for applicable licenses in Texas. In fact, we offer continuing education credits from the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Department of Insurance. Led by expert speakers, course topics are related to marine and offshore energy insurance, maritime compliance and even the risks of on and offshore drilling.

Additionally, the Club also organizes social activities, including happy hours, a golf tournament, a holiday party, a saltwater fishing tournament and a chili and barbeque cook-off. These social events give our members the opportunity to mingle with colleagues in an informal atmosphere and have some fun. The possibilities to make new acquaintances are endless in a Club with over 400 members... and counting. The Houston Mariners Club also supports many local charities with significant, annual donations provided to:

  • Houston International Seafarers' Center,
  • Kid's Unlimited Foundation,
  • Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship Fund,
  • Houston Maritime Museum,
  • Houston Food Bank,
  • The Salvation Army,
  • Star of Hope Mission,
  • Wounded Warrior Project, and
  • many other local charities.

We hope you’ll consider becoming a new member of The Houston Mariners Club for just $50 a year. Join us at an upcoming event as a nonmember to check out our group and determine if this is the Club for you.
