First of all, I would like to thank our outgoing Skipper, Claire Garza, for all of her hard work and dedication to the HMC over the past two years.  Claire did an outstanding job as Skipper, and I will do my very best to follow suit.

I am pleased to provide you with my first quarterly newsletter for the 2022-2023 year full of information and fun upcoming events hosted by HMC.   Please remember that payment of your annual dues makes these upcoming events possible and also makes our annual charitable donations possible.   

We are excited about the upcoming offerings for HMC and hope you can join us for all of the fun and festivities.

As Claire previously reported in our June 2022 newsletter, we are thrilled to announce that the Club’s brand-new website is officially live! Many of you have already completed the initial registration process, but if you still need guidance on this point, keep reading or reach out to one of the officers for assistance.

Please note, the first time you visit the website at www.houstonmarinersclub.com, you will need to login as a new member (even if you are a current member!).

If you have already paid dues, or you are a Past Skipper and no longer required to pay dues, please reach out to Yeoman [email protected] to request a code, which will negate your dues payment. Please also feel free to reach out to Misha with any questions surrounding membership in general.

For the new 2022-2023 year, please pay your dues! Simply put, the Club cannot fully function without the full involvement of its members and payment of dues. The Officers and Board ask you and your companies to please continue to support the Mariners Club through payment of your dues. As discussed in relation to the new website, each member will need to complete the initial login process, which includes payment of dues. We strongly encourage each of you to complete the initial process as soon as possible, as the website will be utilized as a communications hub.

Instructions:

Visit www.houstonmarinersclub.com and select the “Join Us” tab. Next, click the blue “Sign Up Now” button, click “Select” for the HMC Annual 2021-2022 dues choice, and follow the steps under “Account Information.”

NOTE: You will need to go through these steps even if you are not a new member and previously had an account under the old website!

If you already paid your dues, or are a Past Skipper, you will need to request a discount code from Misha Paltiyevich, Yeoman.

The HMC’s Annual Meeting was held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. This meeting concluded the end of the 2021-2022 membership year and signify the beginning of the new 2022-2023 membership year. The meeting was well attended by HMC members.  The HMC 2021-2022 Charitable donations were made to the following organizations:

• Houston Maritime Education Center & Museum
• Houston International Seafarers Center
• Skipper’s Choice – Building Conservation Trust
• Galveston Bay Foundation

The officers for the 2022 – 2023 were announced and the new Yeoman was voted on by the HMC members.  We are pleased to announce that Misha Paltiyevich has been elected Yeoman for the 2022-2023 term.  Added new this year, were also positions for Social Chairman and Sponsorship Chairman.  These new positions will allow the HMC to grow and expand for the foreseeable future.  We are excited for the newly elected board members and chairman (s) for the HMC.  For a complete list of the 2022-2023 Officers, Board of Directors, Social Chairman, and Sponsorship Chairman please see the last section of the newsletter.

HMC Members, Officers, and Board of Directors celebrating the newly elected 2022 – 2023 Officers, Board Members, Social Chairman, Sponsorship Chairman after our annual meeting on July 12, 2022.

HMC’s annual fishing tournament took place on Friday, October 7, 2022 with weigh in/happy hour being at Cabo in Clear Lake.  It was a great turnout for the tournament and I can safely say that all teams participating caught fish this year.  A huge thanks to Erik Garza and Tim Strickland for their assistance with putting on the tournament.  Pictures from the tournament are below.

HMC Annual Golf Tournament: 11/3/22 at Tour 18 in Humble 12:00 pm Shotgun Start – Put together a team or consider a sponsorship!  (Detailed information below)

We are very much looking forward to the 2022 Annual Golf Tournament this year.

Please consider putting a team together and sponsoring a hole.
