I am pleased to present you with a newsletter filled with positive developments and upcoming events! The HMC, and its events, are back in full swing so come out and reconnect with your fellow members. On that note, let us all remember that without the payment of your membership dues, not all events and charitable donations will be possible. In particular, the upcoming Annual Meeting and Yeoman election is only open to those members who are current on their dues.

I hope you’re as excited about the upcoming happenings as much as the Officers are and enjoy this fourth and final newsletter as my tenure as Skipper comes to an end.

Welcome to the Club!

As previously reported, we are thrilled to announce that the Club’s brand-new website is officially live! Many of you have already completed the initial registration process, but if you still need guidance on this point, keep reading.

Please note, the first time you visit the website at www.houstonmarinersclub.com, you will need to login as a new member (even if you are a current member!).

If you have already paid dues, or you are a Past Skipper and no longer required to pay dues, please reach out to Yeoman [email protected] to request a code, which will negate your dues payment. Please also feel free to reach out to Nikki with any questions surrounding membership in general.

Get ready for the HMC’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 2022! This meeting will conclude the end of the 2021-2022 membership year and signify the beginning of the new 2022-2023 membership year. The HMC’s charitable donations for 2021-2022 will be announced, and, unlike the virtual Annual Meeting last year, this year’s meeting will include voting on the incoming Yeoman. Misha Paltiyevich, currently serving on the HMC’s Board of Directors, has decided to throw his hat into the ring. You will find his biography here for your consideration. If any other current members are interested in running for Yeoman, please contact your Skipper, Claire Garza, at [email protected] for more information. 

Here’s the dreaded dues speech again… please, please pay your dues! Simply put, the Club cannot fully function without the full involvement of its members and payment of dues. The Officers and Board ask you and your companies to please continue to support the Mariners Club through payment of your dues. As discussed in relation to the new website, each member will need to complete the initial login process, which includes payment of dues. We strongly encourage each of you to complete the initial process as soon as possible, as the website will be utilized as a communications hub.

Instructions:

Visit www.houstonmarinersclub.com and select the “Join Us” tab. Next, click the blue “Sign Up Now” button, click “Select” for the HMC Annual 2021-2022 dues choice, and follow the steps under “Account Information.”

NOTE: You will need to go through these steps even if you are not a new member and previously had an account under the old website!

If you already paid your dues, or are a Past Skipper, you will need to request a discount code from Nikki Howes, Yeoman.

Maritime Mondays at the Houston Maritime Center (formerly the Houston Maritime Museum):

Join fellow maritime industry professionals at the Houston Maritime Center for a monthly networking event. Next event will be held on 6/20/2022.

The Annual Holiday Party, which was held at McCormick & Schmicks Uptown Park on December 15, 2021, was a huge success! There was a fantastic turnout from our membership, with lots of food, drinks, auction items, and laughs. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer evening to enjoy the patio and outdoor bar. The auction raised over $2,000, which will help enable the Club to make our annual charitable donations. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the holiday season!
